Prachi Tehlan: a tale of passion and perseverance in herself

At a young age, Prachi Tehlan fought back all the odds to mark her name not only in sports but the showbiz industry as well. The actress did her graduation from the university of Delhi and later on completed her dual MBA in Human Resources and marketing from Indraprastha University, Delhi and IMT Ghaziabad. Before she stepped in the Indian television industry, Tehlan worked in Accenture.

While she was still in school, Prachi played Basketball and netball at the national level.  She not only represented Delhi in the under-19 category thrice but secured the first spot at innumerable inter-college and the inter-university basketball tournaments. She added a feather to her cap after representing India as the youngest captain of the Indian team in Commonwealth Games 2010. It was for the first time that our country won the first medal at the international level under her captaincy.  Also, she became a gold medallist in the Netball during the 54th National games. Owing to her remarkable talent, Times of India tagged her as the ‘Queen of the court’ whereas the Indian Express gave her the title of ‘Lass of the rings’.

While she was working for Accenture, Tehlan, a now established sports personality, received a request from Shashi Sumeet Production to play a quintessential role in the much popularised Star Plus Drama, Diya Aur Baati Hum.  It was in January 2016, when Prachi decided to give a break to her sports career due to lack of career opportunities of her interest for the women players in India. Though she played a supporting role in her first show, her convincing acting skills and talent won the hearts of the viewers. Aarzoo (her name in the show) became a household name within no time.

Soon she was spotted by the makers of ‘Arjan’, a Punjabi movie and thereafter, Tehlan was casted to play the lead role.  Making her Pollywood debut opposite Roshan Prince, she went on to rule over the hearts of her fan following. Her character of Nimmy, a woman who promises her uncle to marry a Punjabi man but had different plans to look forward to, was highly appreciated as people could associate themselves to her. Despite the monotonous role, prachi evidently proved that she has it in her what takes to go far in this industry.

Within the same year-2017- Prachi bagged another Punjabi Commercial drama film, Bailaras.  The movie worked well at the box office and was also critically acclaimed for a unique script, phenomenal cinematography and magnificent performances by the actors including Prachi.  Despite having Binnu Dhillon in the lead role, Prachi managed to shine brightly through her performance in the movie and never allowed anyone to overshadow her. It’s rare to find a combination of beauty and talent in the industry. A renowned media house published that Prachi is one of those pretty faces in the entertainment industry who can act well to steal the show.

Being camera friendly, Prachi is getting innumerable opportunities but as of now, she is busy working on her upcoming show Ikyawwan. The show, which will be aired on Star Plus from 13th November 2017, speaks of the story of the 51st child of the family (Prachi), who is welcomed with great pomp and show as it is expected of her (Prachi) to bring glory and happiness to the family. The story will revolve around a tomboy who is bullied often for being the tallest among her friends and her journey towards success.

Prachi, who is often compared to Bollywood celebrities like Deepika Padukone and Sushmita Sen for an amazing height and personality, is smartly leaving a lasting impression on the minds with every performance that she gives.
